Through her sketches and paintings, Rachel seeks to find beauty and powerful imagery within social and political issues. After travelling and working with young people in South Africa and Burundi, she studied painting at Camberwell College of art. Experiences in Southern and Eastern Africa have strongly influenced her imagery. Bold colour and photographs taken in these places feature in many pieces, contrasting with finely detailed black and white pen drawings. Now living in Hackney, East London, her work is an attempt at visually combining both environments and depicitng the social and cultural diversity that is within both.
